About

Danielle Liss.  That’s me.

On a particularly good hair day without my glasses without The Chins.  But I paid for a blowout that day and I like to get a lot of mileage out of that photo.

The length of my hair varies and it is now a bit darker because it is back to my natural shade of blonde, but I look more like this on a normal basis.

Let’s get down to business, shall we?

Writer

I’ve been writing for a long time.  Ask anyone who knows me from high school.  I was the world’s greatest penpal.  I started blogging in 2004 (okay, there were two posts).  I’ve been consistently blogging since 2005.  For a while, I fit into neat little categories:  law student, neurotic law school graduate taking the bar exam, new lawyer, medical mystery, woman frustrated with fibromyalgia, patient of the Fibro and Fatigue Centers, compulsive spender, compulsive debtor, recovering compulsive spender and debtor, and The Frugal Lawyer..

I don’t fit into any of those categories very well anymore.

I write for my work and that is a very different type of writing than I do here.  (Although I may accidentally slip in an “accordingly” or an “aforementioned.”)  But I love communicating about a lot of different things with my friends, family and the many new friends that I have made through blogging.  Writing inspires me creatively.  I’ve always been a writer and I always will be a writer, both legally and creatively.

Photographer

I LOVE to take photographs.  I’ve had a Nikon D50 since late 2005 and I hope it lasts for years to come. I enjoy taking pictures of my silly hairless cats.  You’ll see a lot of them.  I don’t really go for the cute shots, sorry.  I’m also partial to dead trees, my feet, really random landscapes and beautiful splashes of color. Here is one of my favorites from a trip to Sedona.

Lawyer

I am a corporate litigator in Las Vegas.  I don’t talk about work on my blog.  I may, from time to time, comment on a political or legal subject in the news that I find interesting.  Things you should know about the lawyer me:  I have a huge crush on Justice Harry Blackmun.  I am married to another lawyer.  I would love to do appellate work some day if the opportunity presents itself.  I LOVELOVELOVE reading legal grammar books.  I do not believe that judgement is the proper spelling of judgment EVER in the US. E.V.E.R.

Haiku Poet

I love the haiku.
My husband says they are dumb.
He is oh so wrong.

Money, TV, Food.
No topic is off limit
from my rad haikus.

If you are lucky,
one day I will dazzle you
with my sonnet skills.

Unicorn Lover

Unicorns have got it going on.  So do rainbows.  I frequently say that I’m nothing but rainbows and unicorns.  It’s a little snark and a little true.  Because, honestly, if you come up to me, hand me a glittery unicorn sticker with a rainbow, I’m going to act like a 4 year old in 1982.  They make me happy.

Unicorn lover also encompasses what the average person considers an eco-conscious lifestyle. I decided that I no longer liked the label “green.” Quite simply, I’m doing all of this for the unicorns.  And I’ve got street cred.  I graduated from dark sage before dropping the green spectrum completely.  So, when you go to the category unicorn lover, it could be about environmental stuff or unicorns or both.
