Once upon a time, around six years ago (neither of us knows for sure), I became friends with Kat. We met through our blogs. Over the years, sometime after I joined Facebook, we became closer friends. Kat has always been someone that I can turn to when times are tough and I need a shoulder to cry on. And, she has a wicked sense of humor.
But, we had never met. I think a lot of people thought it was strange. That I considered someone such a close friend and we had never met. (People who don’t necessarily understand the powerful bonds formed in the blogging community.)
One day, I got a message from Kat that she would be in Vegas in late September. We would finally get to meet! And what do two internet friends do when they meet for the first time?
Get matching tattoos that are symbolic of their online friendship, of course.
Kat and I met and headed to the tattoo parlor. (This is a grainy cell phone shot. The good camera had a really weird glare and it looks like my head is emitting beams of light.)
Next it was time to get our tattoos. I got mine first. It hurt. Like the devil was slicing my skin with a knife. I don’t know why I continue to write on myself. Here is Kat waiting for her turn.
Then, we came back to the house. Brian was kind enough to take a side-by-side portrait of our feet. Mine is the one that is covered in blood and looks like the scene of a crime. I wasn’t kidding when I said he sliced through me with a knife.
Then, I’m pretty sure that Kat and Rabbit had the highlight of their Vegas trip. Yup, meeting the idiot cats. Elmo, to no one’s surprise, immediately proffered his belly like a wanton hussy cat.
Tiki was generally more affectionate than he usually is with strangers.
It was so amazing to meet Kat after so many years. Hopefully another six years won’t pass before we get to do it again!

Wow. Six years? I hope I don’t have to wait that long to meet my internet super friend, Miss Danielle! But I will totally skip the tattoo. Unless it’s the temporary kind that comes in cereal boxes.
