On Saturday, I flew from New York to Las Vegas. As my husband and I waited for our morning flight at JFK, we observed two moments of silence to remember those lost on 9/11/2001. 8:46. 9:03. A few months prior to 9/11, I was in New York with friends to spend the day walking around, taking photographs. I took the photograph below from the Brooklyn Bridge. Little did I know that I'd never see this skyline again. Prior to beginning this week's Carnival, let's take a moment to again remember those lost on 9/11.
For the rest of the Carnival, I want to celebrate New York. A city that I've photographed time and time again. I took all of the photographs in today's post specifically for the Carnival when I was in New York in August for BlogHer.
(Oh, and if we've never met, welcome. I write about all sorts of things, but I always seem to talk about money; I am a former compulsive shopping addict who amassed $167,000 in unsecured debt at the pinnacle of my financial irresponsibility. I also like unicorns, grammar and photography.)

Craig – I am usually willing to eat some cart food. I mean, there are gourmet food trucks out there now and a show on the food network about it. But what is that thing? I didn’t even notice it until I pulled out my camera and used the zoom lens. No pretzel for me that day.
Helen – There really is no place like NY! That was my first trip past Ground Zero since they started rebuilding. It was a strange feeling.
