FICO Checkup with Credit Karma

At the beginning of 2010, I got an offer from Creditreports.com and it said that it would include my updated FICO.  I signed up.  It said my FICO was 752.  I chuckled and this was my main reason for canceling the service.  I know that my FICO is nowhere near there.

Then, on another blog (which I unfortunately cannot remember), I saw a mention of Credit Karma.  You get your FICO for free.  It's pretty ad-heavy, which is fine with me because it is free, so I will do whatever they would like with the ads.

I'm always curious what my FICO is because I'm curious about what the impact of CCCS is on credit scores.  Right now, my balance with Citibank was just paid, so it is still reporting, so my FICO is 682.  Mediocre.  But frankly, pretty average considering that I am on a DMP and I can't use my cards anymore.  Plus, there is that giant pile o' debt sitting there.

I'm especially curious to see whether the score will increase when the Citibank card shows as completely paid.  I'll be keeping tabs on this.

If you haven't tried it, check out Credit Karma.  See if you like it.  Seems like an easy (and frugal) option for getting your FICO online.

I actually dislike Credit Karma. I compared that score with my MyFICO score as well as one of my Annual Credit Report scores and found it was much lower. But I’ll be checking again in a month or two to see if that’s still the case. I like Credit.com. They don’t give you a credit score, but they rate you on the different categories and tell you how to improve. I love their detail.
Also, I kind of like Quizzle, their score was similar to the annualcreditreport.com one and the myFICO one. And they have a cool website that I like.

I have never heard of Quizzle. That’s another one I need to try!

You’ll love it. Free every 6 months and they grade you based on your emergency fund and value of home too.
