Saving Money with Cox and Verizon Wireless

Last week, I sat down and tortured myself by making two calls that I had no interest in dealing with.

First, I called Cox.  I hate every single second of dealing with the cable company.  I've already managed to save a fair amount from my bill.  I returned a second rarely used cable box and that shaved about $11 from the bill.  I spent twenty minutes dealing with a pleasant man.  I didn't save a ton, but I saved a little bit more.  $4.  So that's about $15 each month.  $180 for the year.  I'll take it.

Then I called Verizon.  I hate dealing with them more than Cox.  Way more.  I just wanted to lower my text plan since I talk to almost everyone over BBM.  That would save me $5 per month.  It turned out that I may be eligible for a work discount.  So I have more investigating to do on Monday.  That will be a nice discount if it is still valid.  So we'll see.  For now $5 off.  $60 per year.

$240 saved with a couple of quick phone calls.  Yay.

Don’t look at it as a small amount – technically, it’s $240 more than you had before the telephone calls….
